Peace Corps North Macedonia is a US government agency and seeks qualified and motivated candidates for the full-time position of:

Driver

Working under the supervision of the General Services Coordinator, the Driver is responsible for providing transportation services for Peace Corps staff, Volunteers, and other personnel around North Macedonia and to neighboring countries. The driver will be required to operate a variety of Peace Corps-provided vehicles (sedan, 4x4, and van). The Driver is also responsible for transporting Peace Corps property and equipment. The Driver ensures that vehicles are properly maintained and operated according to Peace Corps and USG guidelines and manufacturer specifications. The Driver may be required to assist with other administrative tasks, as needed.

This position requires frequent travel. The driver performs duties during a 40-hour work-week; however occasional work on evenings, weekends, and/or holidays may be required. The driver will be required to serve as on-call emergency duty driver on a rotating weekly basis.

 Location: Skopje, with extensive travel within North Macedonia and Kosovo

 Salary: 69,800.00 MKD/per month (gross); full-time position. No relocation expenses will be covered. The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.

 Other: Preference will be given to candidates who are Citizens or permanent residents of North Macedonia.

 Required Qualifications:

Education and Professional Experience:

·         High School Diploma

Valid driver’s license for Category B (include copy of front and back with application) Minimum 5 years professional driving experience including at least 1 year of professional driving experience with an international organization

 Language: Fluent in Macedonian and English

 Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes:

Clean driving record Familiarity with local traffic laws, regulations, and roads Excellent knowledge of vehicle maintenance Must be available to respond to emergency situations at any time Must be able to perform moderate physical labor and lift up to 20 kilograms Strong communication, planning, time management, and organizational skills Ability to work within a diverse team Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision

·         Basic computer skills (email, internet, excel, word processing, etc.)

 Desired Qualifications:

Additional skills with maintenance and property repairs (electrical, plumbing, etc.) Proficiency in Albanian

Anticipated Start Date: January 2023, contingent on successful background investigation, medical check, and availability of funds.

Security and Medical Clearance: After an offer is made, the selected candidate is required to successfully pass a background investigation and medical exam determining fitness for duty as required by Peace Corps and the US Mission in Skopje.

4. Copy of valid Category B driver’s license (front and back)

5. Additional: Clearly state in the body of the email if you are a relative of a current Peace Corps staff member and include their name. Being a relative does not make an applicant ineligible for the position. A relative is defined as “husband, wife, domestic partner, member of household, father, father-in-law, stepfather, mother, mother-in-law, stepmother, son, son-in-law, stepson, daughter, daughter-in-law, stepdaughter, brother, brother-in-law, half-brother, sister, sister-in-law, half-sister, uncle, aunt, first cousin, nephew, or niece.” Otherwise, state “I am not related to a current Peace Corps staff member” in the body of the email.
