Peace Corps North Macedonia is a US government agency and seeks qualified and motivated candidates for the full-time position of:         

Regional Manager

The Regional Manager (RM) reports to the Director of Programming and Training (DPT) in close collaboration with Program Managers (PMs). The Regional Manager is responsible for supporting Peace Corps Volunteers living and working within an assigned geographic area in North Macedonia.

 As part of a team of three Regional Managers, and alongside the Program Managers, the RMs will lead the site promotion process to recruit both worksites and homestay options that meet the needs of Peace Corps’ programming priorities. The RM is responsible for site identification, development, and management for all Volunteers in their region. The RM will represent Peace Corps at meetings and events; meet with local directors, counterparts, and relevant community members; direct the search for host families; interview and select all host families and alternate host families. The RM is responsible for preparing local counterparts and host families to work and support Volunteers through regular communications and in-person training.

 The RM works with Volunteers throughout their service to provide ongoing support on cross-cultural issues in order to facilitate a positive working and living arrangement for all parties involved. In conjunction with the Intercultural Competence, Diversity and Inclusion (ICDI) team and Training Manger and Language Coordinator, the RM will develop, deliver, and evaluate training related to ICDI.

 The RM directs the search for host families and then interviews and selects all potential host families and alternate host families in the assigned geographic area. The RM provides ongoing administrative/logistical support for Volunteer housing, including resolving ongoing housing issues.

 This position requires a strong understanding of the cultures of America and North Macedonia to properly understand and respond to concerns and questions from Volunteers, host families, and other community members, as well as excellent communication skills. The position also requires strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.

 The RM will have administrative duties in line with Peace Corps policies and processes, including translation responsibilities, and other duties as assigned.

 Location: Skopje, with frequent travel within North Macedonia

 Salary:1,358,224.00MKD/per year. This is a Full-Time position. No relocation expenses will be covered.

The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.

 Other: Preference will be given to candidates who are permanent residents of the host country or region, or who are Citizens of the host country or region.

Required Qualifications:

Education and Professional Experience

·         University or advanced degree in any field

·         Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in program coordination

·         Minimum 1 year experience working with an NGO, international organization, educational organization, or similar entity or department 

Language: Tri-lingual written and spoken fluency in Macedonian, Albanian, and English required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

·         Demonstrated experience with community, educational and/or youth development

·         Demonstrated experience with understanding and working with cross-cultural issues

·         Demonstrated experience with representational work to external stakeholders including giving presentations and/or direct recruitment in North Macedonia

·         Demonstrated experience organizing and facilitating trainings or events for diverse groups of people

·         Proven ability to develop and maintain a professional network of contacts with organizations and/or government officials through personal contact and correspondence

Demonstrated experience with administrative responsibilities including coordinating logistics, event planning, and/or budgeting

·         Demonstrated experience working cooperatively in a cross-cultural team

·         Excellent computer skills with high level of attention to detail, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite, databases, and data entry

Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision Ability to travel regularly throughout North Macedonia, including some overnights [transportation provided by Peace Corps]

Desired Qualifications:

·         Additional training and/or advanced degree relevant to the position

·         Experience working with U.S. citizens and knowledge of American culture

·         Experience with both oral and written translation work

Estimated Start Date:  May 2020, contingent on successful background investigation.

Security Clearance: After an offer is made, the selected candidate is required to successfully pass a background investigation conducted by the US Embassy in Skopje.
